WWDC 09

The word is out as apple unveiled it’s latest headlines today at the WWDC 09 expo. Tomorrow, Simplified Geek Specialist Drew and Reid, will be having a quick podcast to discuss the announcements and see how close we were to our predictions from our Episode 9 Podcast, plus we’ll talk about the implications it will have on Apple as a company. To recap, I will give a quick summary of today’s announcements and link to the official apple press releases for you. Than tune in tomorrow to hear our take.

Macbook Pros:

The biggest news to the mac pro line up is that they all now have built in SD card readers (let say it together now…”IT’S ABOUT TIME!). The other shift was that they slid the two high end MacBooks with the sweet aluminum casing in the macbook pro classification, upgraded some hardware and baddabing you have a 13 in. MacBook Pro.

Safari 4:

The beta version of the web browser came in February with a few bugs and slow response. Today the released the official Safari 4 browser and I have to admit, after using it for only a few hours now, that it is working much better than the beta (no surprise), but the load times are quicker, and tabs are where they belong now.

iPhone 3G S:

With much enthusiasm, the announcement of the 3rd generation iPhone was made. The overall phone hasn’t changed much. Hardware-wise you are going to have a much faster processor, and a 3 mp camera, with video capabilities, and boasting the official 3.0 iPhone OS. The big advancement in the OS that was news was the Auto-Focus features of the camera, and the hands free voice control for your phone.

Mac OS X: Snow Leopard:

Mac OS X Leopard was announced today with and is scheduled to be released in September (I am sure to steal some thunder from Microsoft Window 7 Release in October). Although most upgrades to the OS will be “under the hood,” Apple announced that they will be offering a $29 upgrade version from 10.5 leopard.

We’ll see if they steal any thunder from Microsoft. I doubt it! Windows 7 is going to be the best OS ever released.
