Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 12.06.14 AMIf you read my complaint you will know why my review is coming out so late, but I am doing it anyways. I rushed home from school as quick as I could when my wife told me the leopard was in our apartment, and quickly began the install.
Installation time took a little under an hour, which isnt too bad. I updated both my computers and had no trouble or hickups during it. I heard that 10.6 has a smaller footprint and it sure does, on my macbook pro it freed up a wopping 16 GB, and I kid you not. I had 106 BG available and I checked it right after the install was complete and it said 122 GB available pretty amazing. On my iMac it freed up about 6.5 GB, which is close to the average they said it would be. I am not sure why there was such a difference, but I am very happy about it. Looks wise there is not much difference they are pretty small and subtle. The first is quick time, they got rid of quick time pro and know have quick time X with a snazzy logo and some new improvements. The biggest one is clip trimming of a video, best thing is it works with any format quicktime can read which is pretty much any type of video file now. I like this because I have a lot of home movie clips I like to edit or cut down and now I don’t have to bring them into iMovie every time I want to do it. Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 12.30.26 AMThe picture above was actually shot on my iphone 3G. As you can see it really simple, there is not much you can do with the editing but it makes it easier to trim and save space then import into iMovie, also sometimes I like to to take clips of TV shows I have on my computer, then after your done it will load then straight to youtube if you like.  It also has the ability to record movies with your isight camera, so if you don’t like using photo booth here is your new option. Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 12.37.14 AM Next is expose, you can now do expose for a single program the picture below is of pages so if you move your cursor over the icon then click on it for a second it will pop up expose for only that program.Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 12.14.39 AM This is handy while running multiple programs and each program has multiple windows that way you can only get the stuff you want for a specific program, this is one of the best new features for sure. When ever you have expose opened whether its with all programs you have running or just a specific one you can move the cursor over a window and just incase you have so many things running that all the windows are too small, you just hit the space bar button then it will zoom in and give you a preview of it.Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 1.05.40 AMStacks got an adjustment, remember the days when you would click on a stack and it brings up all these folders and you had no idea what was in them anymore, so you had to open and guess which was which?  Well those days are over because now you can click on the stack then on a folder and it brings it up in stacks, you will also notice the back arrow to check other folders.  Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 1.03.42 AM

All options on stacks are customizable.

Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 1.03.56 AMSafari got a few new updates as well, mostly performance, the only two new features I notices was cover flow browsing of your history, and the google bar that is built in now uses Google Suggest to help you spell things correctly (and if you know my I need that!). Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 12.17.44 AM It seems to be a little more stable but Ill have to test it out some more. It would always find the page image during cover flow but that could be the website?  Mail got a few new lifts, the ability to highlight portions of notes and turn them into to do lists and add pictures to your notes ( haven’t done an iPhone sync to check if there are compatible with one another).Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 1.01.48 AMI know my wife will love this one, there are a plethora of stationary formats you can use to send a nice cute e-mail or birthday card, I’m sure there will be many extra ones available to download.

Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 1.17.25 AMAll images and text can of course be changed.

Overall it does seem snappier and it utilizes the computers RAM more efficiently, was it worth waiting the extra week?  Heck no! I’m still a little peaved about it but Ill get over it, and I am enjoying the update very much.  When the iPhone 3.0 OS had its official release I was very disappointed (part of that could be due to me beta testing it since it came out) but with this I was more impressed than I thought I would be and thats always a good thing.  The only bug I have found so far is my Numbers and Keynote icon buttons show question marks, and I have no idea why because it didn’t do that on my macbook pro.  Screen shot 2009-09-04 at 12.09.36 AMIll leave a few pictures of the cool startup menu they have when you first start up the computer after an install, oh and they changed they default background from the shining star in space to a new space scene, couldn’t forget that one.  There are way too many new features to list and take pictures of so you can either go to www.apple.com and see all the new features or look at the PDF welcome to Snow Leopard when you install it yourself, there is over 100 new things in 10.6 update, way to many to list all.  All in all I have to give Apple kudos on this one for advancing the most sophisticated, reliable, and advanced operating system on earth, I guess we will see if it still rules the OS world when Windows 7 drops on us?
