Don’t Like Cupcakes, Try A Donut

android-donut-xdaSince I have recently acquired a G1 and have been playing with it (still waiting on T-MO for the unlock code!!! to use it on AT&T) I have to be up on the android news so here is some good info for all you android lovers, some upgrades to the recent cupcake OS. Donut will include such features as multi-touch support, universal search, text-to-speech, automated backups and a redesigned camera app (hopefully better video support, it stinks pretty bad). New widgets including a much welcome home screen toggle for things like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, screen brightness and more. Also rumored is CDMA radio support (the network Verizon, Sprint, and Cricket are on) this may be because Dan Hesse of Sprint has recently announced they will be jumping on the Android wagon. No release date yet but hopefully this will not take as long as the cupcake took to make, because I am looking forward to some sweet multi-touch action on the G1! Check out some pics below.

I want a G1! But I’d want the data plan because it’s AWESOME!

Wow, I thought Apple had a copyright on multi-touch. That’s the main thing that makes me jealous on the iphone. We’ll see if its true in the next little bit. Google says they want to update the OS twice a year. Got the cupcake, now just have to wait for donut!

You know if the my touch had a headphone jack, I might consider switching to an android phone.

I hope one day they learn.

Palm broke that Apple barrier when they came out with the pre so we can thank them for that. They took the chance even with Apple threatening to sue, but I don’t think Apple really ever had any ground to sue them so now that Palm has done it I think many may follow. It is pretty much 100% for sure it will have multi touch, and another great thing about it is they are making it backward compatible with the G1 as well as all future phones, another great thing about google they don’t leave their old customers in the dust (I still love apple though!) but thats a whole other discussion. As for the head phone jack, that is probably the stupidest thing I have heard of in my life, if I were Google CEO Eric Schmidt I would personally fly over to the HTC head quarters and bitch slap Peter Chou for not including that. How moronic is a company that does not understand that people NEED a headphone jack, we don’t want some crappy adapter hanging down to plug our headphones in, at least it comes with one so the myTouch 3G is buyable. WIth that, the myTouch is an amazing phone and still worth buying, I may have to pick one up next year and unlock it for T-Mobile because even with the whole headphone thing, I think I would have to say I will take it over the iPhone, but really having both is the best situation so that is what everyone should do.
