Yes you read that correctly, the kindle is now on the iPhone, well as an app at least Amazon released the official Kindle app yesterday.  For all of you who have an iphone and either can’t afford the Kindle 2  because you spent all your money on an iphone, or just don’t want to shell out the $300.00 it costs.  The app is free and you will have access to all Kindle books, and materials.  The downside is you cannot download directly from the app, you will have to go on line to get your books, magazines, and newspapers.

After downloading I signed in to the app with my Amazon account, it has very simple and easy to menus, and easy search methods if you have a lot of books.  It gave me instructions how to download content, which can be done through the iPhone browser, or on you PC or Mac browser.  I jumped over to Amazon and quickly downloaded a free copy of Treasure Island.  While it is a little of a pain to have to download it through your browser, when ever you open the Kindle app it automatically looks for any newly downloaded content so that is a very nice feature plus it keeps all of your books and magazines you buy in your account so you wont have to worry about loosing them.

The menu inside the book is very well built also, it is much better than most of the book readers the iPhone offers.  It gives you the option of five different text sizes, if you change the size it will fit into the screen so you don’t have to scroll back and forth like some of the other readers, I really like that.  It gives you quick access to any page or place in the book, it offers dog earring on pages, and you can also highlight.  The pages are changed by swiping your finger across the scree.  The only real downside I found to it is you can’t read in landscape mode.  I don’t recommend rushing out to buy an iphone instead of a Kindle, because the screen on the iPhone just doesn’t compare to the Kindle for reading, but if you already have an iPhone get this app if you like reading on the go.
